Madeira, Portugal (February 2025)
My recent posts are shorter and shorter due to juggling corporate work in a top 5 IT global company, parenthood and many other responsibilities. Here are our short tips on this destination which we enjoyed. I will say that Madeira is mainly about hiking & waterfalls.
Madeira is called the “eternal spring”. It is green all over and it’s beautiful to drive through. Mostly known for its breathtaking hikes. Some things we managed to see with a toddler:
1. Porto Moniz (natural springs) & Seixal
2. Funchal (capital) & cable car trip & Jardim Monte palace botanical garden & St Catarina park
3. Santana village casas tipicas / typical houses & Machico sand beach promenade
4. Curral das Freiras mountain village & Camara de lobos.
If you come here and have high mobility don’t miss all the cool hikes, viewpoints and waterfalls of the island (example Pico do Ariero). I would spend at least 1 week here.
Funchal Sweets places – chocolate Uau Cacao, Fabrica San Antonio biscuits, etc we stayed near the capital Funchal.
