Seychelles (Dec’23)
Unfortunately due to lack of time being now a busy working mom, my blog posts resume to Instagram like short posts 🙂 Nevertheless, here is a short tldr of our experience, and happy to answer questions.
Some reflections about Seychelles.
– best time to visit is November /April (check for rain season and avoid)
– people are very friendly
– beaches are very special
– the islands are known for the giant turtles which you sometimes see randomly on the street (happened to us in La Digue)
– the islands are made of granite rock
– there are many islands but the main inhabited one by locals (not just hotel resorts) are: Mahe, Praslin and la Digue (I enjoyed mostly Praslin and la Digue)
– you can make the trip more budget (65eur per double room per night for ex) or 1000 eur per night, booking.com or any similar websites can show you the varied choice
– In Praslin you can visit a national park / jungle called Valle de Mai with the endemic coco de mer palm tree, with 18kg seed, biggest seed in the world
– Favorite beaches in la Digue: Anse Georgette (anse lazio and anse grand are ok too
– Favorite beach in La Digue (Anse source d’argent)- Favorite takeaway in Praslin: Zilwa- best place to snorkel: St Pierre island
– worth to take a trip from Praslin to Curieuse island, home to 300 free giant turtles
– Tip about traveling with toddler there: take night flights if it’s a long flight, toys for the plane, snacks and patience and full body swim suit as the sun is strong there. Also book a place with a swimming pool 🙂
– We were greatful for traveling there and discovering this beautiful culture & interacting with the locals.
– “The Seychelles has a very short human history: the first humans settled on the islands only at the end of the 18th century; before then the entire archipelago was completely uninhabited. Having first become a French colony, then a British one, the Seychelles saw the arrival, along with the settlers, of numerous slaves from various parts of Africa.” (seyvillas.com). It became independent in 1976.
